The Lead Internal Auditor plays a significant role in leading and managing internal audit activities, confirming the status of Quality Management System (QMS) implementation, and driving continual improvement across the organization.
The Certified Lead Internal Auditor in Quality Management System (QMS) certification is designed to independently assess and confirm a candidate’s knowledge, competence, and professional judgment in planning, leading, and managing internal audits of a QMS in accordance with ISO 9001 requirements and ISO 19011 guidelines.
The assessment is conducted through assignment and presentation.
Through the assessment, candidates are assessed on their ability to:
- Interpret and apply ISO 9001 requirements
- Plan, lead, and manage internal audit programmes
- Apply advanced audit principles, methods, and techniques
- Evaluate QMS processes using risk-based thinking and the process approach
- Lead audit teams and communicate audit findings effectively
Candidates who successfully meet the eligibility requirements and pass the assessment will be awarded the Certified Lead Internal Auditor in QMS.
Mode of Assessment
Type of assessment: Assignment and Presentation.
· Assignment Duration: 1 month
· Assignment questions will be based on the following Body of Knowledge (BoK):
i- ISO 9001 Requirements
ii- Audit Planning and Execution
iii-Audit Reporting and Follow-up

Pre-requisites
Prerequisite Requirements
To qualify as a SIRIM Certified Lead Internal Auditor in Quality Management System (CLIA-QMS), candidates must fulfill all the requirements listed below:
1. Education
Have completed a secondary education (e.g. SPM) or tertiary education (e.g. diploma, degree, or higher) in any field.
2. Training
Applicants shall complete ISO 9001 Lead Auditor course, or equivalent.
(Note: The course shall be from the latest revision of standard.)
3. Work Experience
Applicants must have work experience from any industry based on their education level:
Secondary education level: Minimum 5 years
Or
Tertiary education level: Minimum 3 year
