What's In It For Me

The Certified Six Sigma Green Belt personnel play a significant role in supporting organizational improvement initiatives by applying structured problem-solving methodologies to improve process performance, quality, and efficiency.


The Certified Green Belt Six Sigma certification is designed to independently assess and confirm a candidate’s knowledge, competence, and professional judgment in applying Six Sigma methodologies and tools to improvement projects in accordance with internationally recognized Six Sigma practices. The assessment is conducted through examination.


Through the examination, candidates are assessed on their ability to:

  • Interpret and apply Six Sigma concepts and the DMAIC methodology
  • Apply statistical and quality improvement tools and techniques
  • Analyze process performance using data-driven approaches
  • Identify root causes of process variation and defects
  • Contribute effectively to organizational continual improvement initiatives



Candidates who successfully meet the eligibility requirements and pass the examination will be awarded the Certified Green Belt Six Sigma.

Mode of Assessment

Type of assessment: Examination (1 paper)

·    Examination Duration: 3 hours

·    Distribution of questions based on the following Body of Knowledge (BoK):

i- Define phase

ii- Measure phase

iii- Analyse phase

iv- Improve phase

v- Control phase

Pre-requisites

Prerequisite Requirements

To qualify for the SIRIM Certified Green Belt Six Sigma scheme, candidates shall fulfill the following prerequisite requirements:


1. Education

Candidates shall have completed tertiary education (e.g. diploma, degree, or higher) in any field.


2. Work Experience

Candidates with tertiary education shall have relevant work experience in a related field, based on their education level, as follows:

  • Diploma or equivalent: Minimum 5 years of work experience, or
  • Bachelor’s degree / Master’s degree / Doctorate: Minimum 1 year of work experience.


3. Training

Candidates shall have successfully completed a Six Sigma Green Belt course, or an equivalent course.

Note: The training course shall be based on the latest revision of the applicable standard or methodology.
