What's In It For Me

The Quality Practitioner plays a significant role in supporting the implementation and maintenance of quality management system processes and in promoting quality awareness across the organization.


The Certified Quality Practitioner certification is designed to independently assess and confirm a candidate’s knowledge, competence, and professional judgment in supporting quality management system implementation and quality improvement activities in accordance with ISO 9001 requirements and quality management best practices. The assessment is conducted through examination.


Through the examination, candidates are assessed on their ability to:

  • Interpret and apply basic quality management and ISO 9001 requirements
  • Support implementation and maintenance of QMS processes
  • Apply basic quality tools and techniques
  • Identify nonconformities and support corrective actions
  • Contribute effectively to organizational continual improvement initiatives



Candidates who successfully meet the eligibility requirements and pass the examination will be awarded the Certified Quality Practitioner.

Mode of Assessment

Type of assessment: Examination (3 papers)

i.  Paper 1: Standard-Based Management System (Duration:3 hours)

ii. Paper 2: Tools & Analysis (Duration: 3 hours) 

iii. Paper 3: TQM & Best Practices (Duration: 2.5 hours)  


Distribution of questions based on Body of Knowledge (BoK):

i- ISO 9001 Requirements, Documented Information, and Internal Auditing

ii- Process Improvement through 7 QC Tools and 7 New QC Tools

iii- Statistical Process Control (SPC)

iv- Introduction to Six Sigma

v- Total Quality Management (TQM)

vi- Customer Service Management (CSM)

vii- Lean Management



Course Duration

Total Exam Durations:

Paper 1 (Day One): 3 hours (2.30pm-5.30pm)

Paper 2 (Day Two) : 3 hours (9.30am-12.30pm)

Paper 3 (Day Two) : 2.5 hours (2.30pm-5.00pm)



Pre-requisites

Prerequisite Requirements


To qualify for the SIRIM Certified Quality Professional scheme, candidates shall fulfill the following prerequisite requirements:


1. Education

Candidates shall have completed tertiary education in any field, as follows:

  • STPM / Diploma or equivalent, or
  • Bachelor’s degree, or
  • Master’s degree / Doctorate.


2. Work Experience

Candidates shall have relevant work experience in a related field. The minimum work experience requirement varies according to the level of education, as follows:

  • STPM / Diploma or equivalent: Minimum 7 years of work experience, or
  • Bachelor’s degree: Minimum 5 years of work experience, or
  • Master’s degree / Doctorate: Minimum 3 years of work experience.



3. Training

Candidates shall have successfully completed the following courses or syllabus, or equivalent:

  1. ISO 9001 Requirements and Internal Auditing
  2. Process Improvement using 7 QC Tools and 7 New QC Tools
  3. Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  4. Introduction to Six Sigma
  5. Total Quality Management (TQM)
  6. Customer Service Management (CSM)
  7. Lean Management / Toyota Production System (TPS)

Note: All training courses shall be based on the latest revision of the applicable standards or methodologies.
