The Quality Manager plays a significant role in establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving the organization’s quality management system to ensure consistent product and service quality.


The Certified Quality Manager certification is designed to independently assess and confirm a candidate’s knowledge, competence, and professional judgment in managing and improving quality management systems in accordance with ISO 9001 requirements and organizational quality objectives.


The assessment is conducted through assignment and presentation.


Through the assessment, candidates are assessed on their ability to:

  • Interpret and apply quality management principles and ISO 9001 requirements
  • Develop and implement quality strategies and policies
  • Manage quality system processes using risk-based thinking and the process approach
  • Analyze performance data to support decision-making
  • Lead organizational continual improvement initiatives



Candidates who successfully meet the eligibility requirements and pass the assessment will be awarded the Certified Quality Manager.

Mode of Assessment

Type of assessment: Assignment and Presentation

·    Assignment Duration: 1 month

·    Assignment questions will be based on the following Body of Knowledge (BoK):

i- Management System Standards (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, etc.)

ii- Risk Management

iii- Business Continuity

iv- Total Quality Management (TQM)

v-  Anti-Bribery Management

vi- Customer Service Management 



Course Duration

Assignment duration: 1 month


Pre-requisites

Prerequisite Requirements


To qualify for the SIRIM Certified Quality Manager scheme, candidates shall fulfill the following prerequisite requirements:


1. Education

Candidates shall have completed tertiary education in any field, as follows:

  • STPM / Diploma or equivalent, or
  • Bachelor’s degree, or
  • Master’s degree / Doctorate.


2. Work Experience

Candidates shall have relevant work experience in a related field. The minimum work experience requirement varies according to the level of education, as follows:

  • STPM / Diploma or equivalent: Minimum 7 years of work experience, or
  • Bachelor’s degree: Minimum 5 years of work experience, or
  • Master’s degree / Doctorate: Minimum 3 years of work experience.



3. Training

Candidates shall have successfully completed the following courses or syllabus, or equivalent:

  • Management System Standards (e.g. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, etc.) – minimum two (2) standards
  • Risk Management (ISO 31000 or equivalent)
  • Business Continuity (ISO 22301 or equivalent)
  • Total Quality Management (TQM)
  • Anti-Bribery Management / ISO 37001 / Governance
  • Customer Service Management (CSM)

Note: All training courses shall be based on the latest revision of the applicable standards.
